Color Journal

About the Project

The purpose of this color journal is to illuminate fundamental color principles, palettes, and their application within the realm of design. Effective design necessitates the deliberate and evocative use of color to create impact.

In the Chapman GD 201 Color course, we immerse ourselves into these color theories and their integration into art and design practices. This booklet highlights some of the most prevalent colors in design, along with their associated emotions, functions, connotations, and historical significance.

The overarching aim is to present a more liberated and eclectic aesthetic, designed to engage and inspire the viewer. Incorporating paint splashes, chaotic paint tins, color swatches, and bustling mood boards, the layout celebrates the vibrant, unpredictable nature of color and its expressive potential.
